38 Class attached to Terminal end.

Welcome to the start of my new venture creating Australian Railway models and kits in 1 Gauge (1/32). I hope over time to design and manufacture carriages, railcars and the odd diesel loco (44Class) as well as line side structures. I have currently finished multiple design drawings for some of the above. Initially I have been working on NSW designs because that is where I live, but I have an interest in lots of other area’s so we shall see where this leads me.

My first model kits for release in the next month or so are NSWGR BR First Class, FR Second Class, RBR First Class Buffet and HR Second Class Terminal Carriages. I am designing kits that will assemble into great looking models for Garden Railways but are accurate enough to be upgraded to become museum display models.

My first kits a based on NSWGR Set 108, containing HR1400 – BR1362 – RBR1049 – BR1042 – FR1238 – FR1345 – Hr1354. The FR, BR and RBR carriages are fairly standard designs for the NSWGR fleet, but only 2 of this design HR was built and both used on Set 108, the other 8 HR cars built were in 3 different designs. I have now also drawn up the designs for the 2 different HR carriages on Sets 102 & 109.

Please have a look around my website at all the new information pages, including colour schemes, archival prototype photos, model galleries and reference prototype photos. The shop will be available shortly, I’m currently working on assembly manuals and final detailing.

  1. Well you have beat me to the R Cars. It is rather typical of scratch building. You spend a lot of time building what you want and when you finish someone produces kits for it.
Your production samples look really good. I think you hit on a good idea with the R cars as they form may trains on the NSWR both as sets and individual cars
I started my R Car production about 3 yeas ago. Just one set for myself with no intention of commercial production.
I will be building set 102 as it was on the Southern Highlands post 1958
I have all the laser cut sides and interiors.
I also have etched nickel silver components for highly detailed under frames including rivets. All the details for these are the result of many hours spent at Trainworks at Thirlmere photographing and measuring the underframe of the CX and the 2AA bogies.
I have artwork for 3d printed seats and some of the bogie timberwork. My idea is to use laser cut nickel silver for the solebars and W irons and have the springs and axle boxes cast in whitemetal from my 3d masters. I intend to have the axle run on ball races.
Construction wise I have the shells for 2 HRs and have started glueing up the RBR.
Now you may be able to help me. I obviously don’t need a full set of kits but can you supply just the 2AA bogies without wheels and axles and possibly the diaphragm connections. This would save me a lot of work and I can see no point in “reinventing the wheel”

  2. Ӏ Ƅlog quite often and I really apρrecіate your information. This article
һas really peaked my іnterest. I will booкmark your blog and kеep
checking for new information about once a week. I ѕubscribed to уouг Feed as well.

    1. Sorry Ray I model my trains in Gauge 1 (1/32) and will eventually be adding some buildings to my designs but only in the larger scale for now.

I have a gauge 1 C32 built by Tom Barratt from Chelmsford and I think that your coaches might be just what I have been looking for. Please advise prices and to you ship to the UK?
You can see my C32 on my YouTube site. pwsod.

    1. Hi Patrick, Sorry for the delay in responding, I’ve not been well and up to date with correspondence. My coaches would be perfect behind a gauge 1 C32. I am happy to send to the UK, kits are $445Au each, assembled $800Au approx £245 and £402.weight is approx 3kgs each with packing and storage case or 1.7kgs without boxes. Postage would be approx $64Au for 1 kit without box up to $162Au for a set of 7 carriages. Assembled would be slightly more to cover more packaging. If you would like to discuss further please email me on barnardbuilt@gmail.com and I can supply more details and discuss the perfect set to go behind your beautiful C32. Please check out my latest Blog page with videos of a running set behind a C38.
